Biography

Mike Schappert is a member of the firm and Chair of the Trusts & Estates Group.  Mike handles advanced estate planning and estate and trust administration for the firm’s clients, focusing on the needs of high net worth clients, executives and family business owners.  Mike also advises trustees, bank trust departments and investment managers.  Mike has advised clients on sophisticated estate planning techniques including QPRTs, GRATs, family limited partnerships, generation skipping trusts, asset protection planning, charitable remainder trusts, intentionally defective grantor trusts and insurance trusts.  Mike also drafts Shareholder Buy/Sell Agreements and premarital and post nuptial agreements.

Mike is also a member of the firm’s Corporate & Business Law Group where he provides counsel for small to mid-sized entities with an emphasis on closely held companies.  Mike provides advice and guidance on succession planning for these business owners.
